Keeping Senses Sharp

Sharp v. Dull

primitive/basic example…a dull knife can’t cut (it)

But a physical man does not accept*(receive) the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot get to know them, because they are examined spiritually. (1 Corinthians 2:14)

Life just like writing…needs editing. Sometimes certain things…habits, etc…need to cut it out…IF unhealthy (physically/spiritually/mentally/emotionally).

What needs editing out of my life?! What are my priorities?!

{FY i…write this blog…one reason…a place of encouragement (spiritually, etc).  IF this blog is not encouraging You:) Reader to do the right/compassionate thing…cut it out. Stop reading now.  My writing motivation is to never intentionally encourage Anyone to do anything hurtful/non-compassionate to Themselves or to their Families or Other-Fellow-Fragile-Life or the Planet.}

excerpted reading…hopefully helpful to You:) on some small level:

Many today are obsessed with the latest fashions, electronic gadgets, and so forth.

Jesus stated that “no one can slave for two masters.” He added: “You cannot slave for God and for Riches.” That is because both “masters” require exclusive devotion. We will either “hate the one and love the other” or “stick to the one and despise the other,” said Jesus. (Matt. 6:24)

Fleshly-minded people have difficulty cultivating a balanced view of material things. Why? Because their spiritual senses are dulled. ( 1 Corinthians 2:14.) Once their powers of discernment have become clouded, it becomes more difficult for them to distinguish right from wrong. (Heb. 5:11-14: “We have much to say about him, and it is difficult to explain, because you have become dull in your hearing. 12 For although by now*(in view of the time) you should be teachers, you again need someone to teach you from the beginning the elementary things of the sacred pronouncements of God, and you have gone back to needing milk, not solid food. 13 For everyone who continues to feed on milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is a young child. 14 But solid food belongs to mature people, to those who through use have their powers of discernment*(perceptive powers) trained to distinguish both right and wrong.“) As a result, some develop an uncontrolled desire for material things—a desire that can never be fully satisfied. (Eccl. 5:10- “A lover of silver will never be satisfied with silver, nor a lover of wealth with income. This too is futility.”)

[…]so applying Bible principles helps us to fight against materialistic desires. [excerpted article: “Do You love me more than these? w 2017]

Keeping my spiritual senses sharp…includes keeping material things in their proper place. Making compassionate choices that don’t endanger myself or Others…(or enslave/encroach on my time/my life).

My top priority is not acquiring stuff and more stuff and more stuff and more stuff…to overwhelm/clutter my mind (and my house) and my energy/my time.

What do i really “need” to live?? Sharp spiritual senses help me cultivate contentment…in all matters and in all circumstances.

p.s. and staying spiritually “sharp” helps me know what and when and how…to edit: what (who) needs editing in my life…

when i am able to keep my spiritual senses sharp…i use my NO! judiciously and compassionately…which keeps me “safe” “healthy”…”alive” (“prioritized” “organized”) 😉 …in multiple respects: physically/mentally/emotionally/spiritually…active, alert, vigilant…at all times…oh and flexible.

editing can be edifying, eh?!;)

PEACE & Health & Happy Editing…to YOU:)
