15 The Bible says something about love that it never says about (True God) Jehovah’s other cardinal attributes. The Scriptures do not say that God is power or that God is justice or even that God is wisdom. He possesses those qualities, is the ultimate source of them, and is beyond comparison in regard to all three. About the fourth attribute, though, something more profound is said: “God is love.” * (1 John 4:8) What does that mean?

16 “God is love” is not a simple equation, as if to say, “God equals love.” We cannot rightly reverse the statement and say that “love is God.” Jehovah is much more than an abstract quality. He is a person with a wide array of feelings and characteristics in addition to love. Yet, love runs very deep in Jehovah. One reference work thus says regarding this verse: “God’s essence or nature is love.” Generally, we might think of it this way: Jehovah’s power enables him to act. His justice and his wisdom guide the way he acts. But Jehovah’s love motivates him to act. And his love is always present in the way he uses his other attributes.

17 It is often said that Jehovah is the very personification of love. Hence, if we want to learn about principled love, we must learn about Jehovah. Of course, we may see this beautiful quality in humans as well. But why is it there? At the time of creation, Jehovah spoke these words, evidently to his Son: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26) Of all the creatures on this earth, only men and women can choose to love and thus imitate their heavenly Father. Recall that Jehovah used various creatures to symbolize his cardinal attributes. Yet, Jehovah chose his highest earthly creation, man, as the symbol of His dominant quality, love.—Ezekiel 1:10.

18 When we love in an unselfish, principled way, we are reflecting Jehovah’s dominant quality. It is just as the apostle John wrote: “As for us, we love, because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) But in what ways has Jehovah loved us first?

Jehovah Took the Initiative

19 Love is not new. After all, what moved Jehovah to begin creating? It was not that he was lonely and needed companionship. Jehovah is complete and self-contained, lacking nothing that someone else might supply. But his love, an active quality, naturally moved him to want to share the joys of life with intelligent creatures who could appreciate such a gift. “The beginning of the creation by God” was his only-begotten Son. (Revelation 3:14) Then Jehovah used this Master Worker to bring all other things into existence, starting with the angels. (Job 38:4, 7; Colossians 1:16) Blessed with freedom, intelligence, and feelings, these mighty spirits had the opportunity to form loving attachments of their own—with one another and, above all, with Jehovah God. (2 Corinthians 3:17) Thus, they loved because they were loved first.

20 So it was with mankind as well. From the start, Adam and Eve were virtually bathed in love. Everywhere they looked in their Paradise home in Eden, they could see evidence of the Father’s love for them. Note what the Bible says: “Jehovah God planted a garden in Eden, toward the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed.” (Genesis 2:8) Have you ever been in a truly beautiful garden or park? What pleased you most? The light filtering through the leaves in a shady alcove? The stunning array of colors in a bed of flowers? The background music of a gurgling brook, singing birds, and humming insects? What about the scents of trees, fruits, and blossoms? In any case, no park today could compare with the one in Eden. Why?

21 That garden was planted by Jehovah himself! It must have been indescribably lovely. Every tree delightful for beauty or for delicious fruit was there. The garden was well watered, spacious, and alive with a fascinating variety of animals. Adam and Eve had everything to make their lives happy and full, including rewarding work and perfect companionship. Jehovah first loved them, and they had every reason to respond in kind. Yet, they failed to do so. Instead of lovingly obeying their heavenly Father, they selfishly rebelled against him.—Genesis, chapter 2.

22 How painful that must have been for Jehovah! But did this rebellion embitter his loving heart? No! “His loving-kindness [or, “loyal love,” footnote] is to time indefinite.” (Psalm 136:1) Thus, he immediately purposed to make loving provisions to redeem any rightly disposed offspring of Adam and Eve. As we have seen, those provisions included the ransom sacrifice of his beloved Son, which cost the Father so dearly.—1 John 4:10

23 Yes, from the beginning Jehovah has taken the initiative in showing love to mankind. In countless ways, “he first loved us.” Love promotes harmony and joy, so it is no wonder that Jehovah is described as “the happy God.” (1 Timothy 1:11) However, an important question arises. Does Jehovah really love us as individuals? The next chapter will answer that. [excerpted: Draw Close to God, Chapter 23, He First Loved Us.]

Thoughts & Intentions of Love…

Personally, a worthwhile daily intention/goal of mine…agapeo…

Also, who of us would not want to draw close to or be drawn to a person whose essence is “LOVE” ?? or to a person who is described as “HAPPY”??

Perhaps, when we see a lack of harmony, happiness, and joy…(wherever/whenever/among whomever) the root issue (aside from illnesses mental, etc and other)… a lack of agape love.

In my POV, to love, be loving…expressing **agape/agapeo…under/any all trying circumstances… is the wisest course of action.

For me, daily Bible study… is more than a shallow intellectual exercise… it’s deeply-truly- transformative… transformation of my essence…. when/IF i diligently “make” application.

Many of us operate/function to just (selfishly) survive…agapeo…is (unselfishly) thriving.:)… with enough agapeo…any challenge can be positively met… in matters of the mind/heart/body…and spirituality.

Many balk at domination… in whatever form… (i want agape love as my dominant quality!🙂

P.s. Agape:

12 A·gaʹpe refers to love that is guided by principle. So it is more than just an emotional response to another person. It is broader in scope, more thoughtful and deliberate in its basis. Above all, a·gaʹpe is utterly unselfish. [excerpted: Draw Close to God, Chapter 23, He First Loved Us.]

Joan Winifred Truth

Letters of the unlettered (of love & of other)… go unanswered/unacknowledged/un-under-appreciated??… and WHY??!

Hmmm….

May be? the so-called “lettered”  (aka so-called more powerful one(s)) fear losing their letters/so-called power/prestige/prominence/money (on the Titanic albeit aka the ending of the framework of society soon to come) and the unlettered (and may be, by conscious choice–remain unlettered and lowly) only fear losing their integrity!!.. so they write (live) the TRUTH!!:)… with “simple” words…

Don’t fear the TRUTH… it leads to REAL LIVING!.. and meaningful sentences and not self-serving gibberish…ae…IOU…what??…

I owe fellow-fragile-life…. agape/compassion… unselfishness!…(and honesty)

And perhaps

i only owe YOU

Forgiveness

for your complacency.

believers & non-believers

change conscientious-ness education Hope insights Joan Winifred logic safety wisdom

Some of us believe. Some of us don’t.
I am a believer!
(“the things seen temporary, the things unseen everlasting”)…

My FULL confidence is in the TRUE God of Compassion and therefore, I seriously strive each day to live compassion to the best of my limited abilities expressed to both believers and non. Simultaneously, I must protect my spiritual values, my spirituality, my spiritual heritage aka my now and my future…

I love my fellow-fragile-life and respect-all-life and Earth!!!:) And respect the power of choice and free will… however, not all fragile-life out there… has unreservedly “dedicated” their life to the God of compassion or to living compassion as I have… nor are even remotely interested in such a life-course/life-style…or remotely interested in enlightenment. For me, personally, to continue on my course/compassion endeavor, aspiration:  it’s logical to limit my close/er association and very-close involvement with non-believers …those who by their choices and actions endanger themselves, the planet, and pose a real threat to my spirituality, my over-all health, my peace, my life even… it is a protection and a safeguard and practical/wise!

It’s probably life-preserving as well to surround yourself selectively only with those who highly respect the sacredness of life and peace, and who strive to live that way … who don’t take unnecessary risks that endanger others’ well-being or life in general… or who don’t intentionally damage, abuse power nor position.

(Yes, I respect those closest to me, my Family, make different decisions!! (and while valuing compassion)… and may be? at different stages of their spiritual development… or may not have the same aspirations/hope for the future…and this can be, at times, a difficulty, a source of friction, pain, and embarrassment for some…i think.)

Those–the closest to me/my intimate, inner circle… are “serious” compassion-seekers, truth-seekers,  and students-of-compassion, and the Bible, and followers-of-the-example-of-Jesus…they genuinely live in the safe, self-sacrificing compassion circle and not the dangerous, self-serving one.

(it’s a place of spiritual security and trust… a spiritual paradise/oasis.)

For example, serious athletes say gymnasts… train together, associate together, get it… understand the life-style and what is required… and willingly and freely make any needed changes and sacrifices to function at that level of discipline. Do gymnasts have interactions and love and respect non-gymnasts?  sure…

However…IF we seriously want to succeed…

We all need a support group of one sort or another to encourage us to reach any life goals.

Compassion is my healthy-life-style. Others are warmly welcome to join me aka choose feely to live compassion completely and committedly!:)

Truth Seekers… (aka accurate knowledge seekers)…

“Before the decree takes effect, before the day passes by like chaff, before the burning anger of Jehovah comes upon you, Before the day of Jehovah’s anger comes upon you, Seek Jehovah, all you meek ones (humble ones) of the earth, Who observe his righteous degrees, Seek righteousness, seek meekness, Probably you will be concealed in the day of Jehovah’s anger.” (Zephaniah 2:2, 3)

Hoping to elaborate more on the afore-mentioned verses… in another post…🙂

a Non-Superstitious life

Joan Winifred

The Encyclopedia of Science and Religion–“[Ancient Peoples] envisioned a universe subject to whims of gods,”… What about You Reader:)…what-do-you-think-how-do-you-exist-are-you-superstitious?

A Book That Exposes Superstition

The Bible, however says that the universe is governed by physical laws. For Example, about 3,500 years ago, the Bible referred to “the laws governing the heavens [and] the earth. (Job 38:33) At Jeremiah 31:35, it mentions “the laws of the moon and the stars.” People who accepted that enlightenment view were protected from false worship and superstition. Job 31:26-28; Isaiah 47:1, 13. [AWAKE! No.2 2016]

In my POV, living compassion is an enlightened life-style.🙂

Am i accepting an enlightenment view of things?? Or am i clinging to an erroneous/superstitious-science-fictitious-spiritual-fictitious-belief-system/life-style that is ultimately damaging me emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually… along with damaging other-fellow-fragile-life (and damaging to the planet)??

And do i have enough humility and sense 😉 to give up the non-sense??

Do i follow whims?? My own? Others’ ? or the ever-fleeting whims of fake-leaders/god-pretenders?

Escape the false!…. RUN To TRUTH!:)

Super-Agape (2)

Joan Winifred justice love motivation trust Truth

Peaceful Greetings Reader:)… please see super-agape…for context…

The Bible explains that genuine love is shown, “not in word or with the tongue, but in deed and truth.” (1 John 3:18) Does this mean that we cannot express love through our speech? Not at all! (1 Thess. 4:18) Rather, it means that our love must not be limited to words, especially when the circumstances call for action. For example, when a fellow […]lacks the basic necessities of life, he needs more than our good wishes. (Jas. 2:15, 16)

The apostle John wrote that we must love “in deed and truth.” Thus, our love must be “without hypocrisy,” or “free from hypocrisy.”(Rom. 12:9; 2 Cor. 6:6) This means that we cannot show genuine love while pretending to be something that we are not, as if we were wearing a mask. We might wonder, ‘Is there such a thing as love with hypocrisy?’ Not really. This would not be love at all but a worthless imitation. [excerpted: Love..in Deed and Truth w 2017]

Does selfishness come easy? Sure!… but, we, humans, have the capacity to cultivate and learn love… agape every day.

Is agape (aka unselfish/pure motive) my prompt?? Does the highest form of love… agape… result in the highest happiness or the greatest good for others and ourselves??
