a couple weeks or so ago…went ice skating with my family here in Florida in August-lol:)…it’s humorous (to me) to be finding myself on skates in the heat of August. Can’t remember when i was on skates last…years and years. i was extremely cautious so as NOT to break a leg or fall at all! (It’s like riding a bike…once i got back on the ice..found my balance fast.)
It was so MUCH FUN and a blast!!! i miss the cold air and snow..and this was a great taste of Winter. And FUN exercise.
i couldn’t help but notice…a kid/family friend…on skates for the first time…having trouble staying on his skates/feet…arms flailing and falling multiple times! The danger…he kept trying to reach out to anyone close to him to hold onto and would inevitably pull others down with him. His instability was dangerous to newer/less-experienced skaters lacking good balance. Instability needs solid structures/stability to hold on to..or to help find balance. Two unstable skaters together just bring each other down…causing hurt/bruises/pain.
Life can be like ice skating…
it reminds me of this wise verse…that i try to remember to help me keep my balance/alertness/vigilance…w/decisions, etc…and not to forget how fragile i am..and not to be over-confident…
“So let the one who thinks he is standing beware that he does not fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:12
i think i’ll shut up now…so as not to stumble with my words…;)
