“LOOK-ing out..

Joan Winifred

For #1, you’ll step in #2.”

(A quoted joke about the perils of self-centeredness.)

It occurred to me today (4/14/16)…(in my car while listening to radio on my way back from taking my youngest to school)…that relationships are doomed…when persons are primarily me-focused/self-centered and only looking out for what’s good for “me” only…(the me-FIRST attitude).

Woes and perils, tragedy and pain abound on this planet because of wanton selfishness. When we put our own selfish wants/desires ahead of the “needs” of other fragile life…there is discord, disunity, distrust.

All of us/all earthlings “operate” “function” under some “sort” “kind” of influence…

Personally, I’m always resisting…negative/corrupting influences and clinging to positive, peaceful, compassionate/kind ones–the best I can everyday. (As long as I breathe, will always be fighting the fine fight of doing the compassionate/right thing anyway..not easy, but I’ve experienced that with God all things are possible!)

“Man has dominated man to his injury.” (Eccl. 8:9) THAT statement aptly describes the history of human rulership. It has been responsible for untold suffering and misery. In all ages, well-intentioned people who have tried to establish a more just society were constantly foiled by greed and corruption.

Our world is characterized by greed and selfishness. In such an environment, some people find it difficult to be different. Driven by selfish ambition, they become power hungry. They also develop a strong desire for more money and possessions—more than they really need. Sadly, they are willing to behave in a dishonest way to achieve those goals. Rather than resisting unwholesome influences, such people “follow after the crowd for evil ends.”—Exodus 23:2. (excerpt: Why does Corruption Persist? W 2012)

Question for Consideration:

Am I a leader of compassion?! or corrupt crowd follower?!

THANKS for choosing COMPASSION EVERYDAY!

HAPPY Friday & Week-end!:)
