Obnoxious Parent(?) (.) (!)

Breathing-Fragile-Life caregiving choice communication conscientious-ness education family Joan Winifred music parenting

Decided to try a FUN (my definition of “fun”) (short) social experiment today (which I’ve tried before and will do again)…ON PURPOSE.
Picked up my youngests, middle-school aged kids from school (this is not endorsement of public middle school) part-way. Hey, I had to walk to and fro school for miles in frigid-snowy weather. Am I conditioning cold-weather-wimps raising my kids here in FL (though, we experience the other weather extreme: VERY HOT and learning to work/function without AC; oh Ya, we have torrential-rainy-season and hurricanes, okay, may be? I was a little “harsh” with the “wimp” word.) ? (Plus, this world is scary place raising PYT’s aka pretty young things and keeping them safe!)(Plus, modern-research shows and ancient-text, e.g., Jesus (Sage of Compassion) and Crew traveled by sandal from village to village) walking and talking “outside” is a healthy brain activity; especially after being cooped up at various body-mind constrictive desks inside for hours being schooled or is it indoctrinated? Educated? Depends!;))

So, to aggravate my little/young girls (and potentially embarrass, ya right!:)) or play with their minds, I play LOUDLY (well, my level of geeky, loud, sound as a person who tries my best/practices consideration for Others conscientiously) classical Music lol:) e.g.,

My experiment is two-fold… hoping some good, wholesome, beautiful music will gently float in the wind and open/expose the ears of any kids walking by my parked car… whose ears/minds may be regularly assaulted by offensive, profanity-laden NOISE!!

As soon as they enter car, seemingly unfazed by music, oh well, though one girl tries quickly to change station without my detection. The other girl proceeds to tell me that an “old” man (her definition of old is anyone over 25 whereas mine is anyone nearing 90 lol;)) was passing out Bibles to walking kids and that a friend (aka school acquaintance) threw a Bible in the nearby canal. “Oh really!” Hmmm, “wait till that same so-called friend tosses you into a canal!” is my initial response, acknowledging that we are Bible readers, respecters, and promoters of Bible principles by the way we choose to live/speak. “So, what did You say to the Man?” I asked (cause obviously they are not carrying any Bibles, just wearing their back packs). My daughters inform me they POLITELY said, “No Thank You, we have our own religion.”

My initial (give the person benefit of doubt) thought about the man is Wow! somebody else out there is potentially trying to expose kids’ minds to something wholesome/good after school! However, it’s important to get parental permission, huh? before giving something to minors!! Did he ask the kids IF their parents allowed them to choose their own reading material?? Happy my kids were polite and safe by choosing not to take something from someone they don’t know well enough without parental consent as minors… but, I would of preferred them saying something like: Thank You, we have our favorite translation that we enjoy reading already!…(In ear shot of the Other kids.) Next time, they will be better prepared; hopefully.

Thoughts from me, an obnoxious parent who is passively sharing/soft-selling wholesome music from my car…and who hasn’t completely relinquished/abdicated or been forced without any fight, or programmed to hand over my parental privileges/responsibilities to Anyone… including governments, teachers, TV’s, phones, devices, internet, etc. and actually attempts to teach, instruct, meaningfully converse/spend time with my kids; trying to share some words of wisdom, safety, etc…Car time can be prime opportunity for “meaningful” deep, spiritual conversations with my kids. Especially since, they wanna get somewhere physically and I’m driving and they’re buckled in seats and I’ve trained them (through the years) that unless their minds are willing to travel with me first… via positive communication… then their bodies will not get to where they wanna go second… i.e. friends’ house, park, party, etc. (Frequent, short-poignant, and fun lectures (i mean “talks”-lol;) at various times; both inside and outside, relaxed and formal…seem to positively work for me and my kids.)

When, they come home from school… the routine, usually insist that they change immediately out of school clothes and when I remember, spray disinfectant on back packs… and remind wash hands before they eat. (They are usually starving after school.) (Hubby usually makes something nutritious for their arrival before heading back to work.)

What about disinfecting their minds?! (aka keeping their minds healthy (clean) in and out of school, huh?)

An obnoxious parent’s work never done?!;)

Peace to All You (so-called) Obnoxious Parents/Readers:)…trying Your best to help Your Kids do Their best in life. 🙂
