recently my fam (& me) heard this encouraging talk about friends! Especially timely for my family with 3.5 teens. Our friends, on & off-line, exert a powerful influence! Friends are very important to teens; of course. Keeping up with their social stuff, knowing their friends and friends’ families, etc., events, gatherings, parties…can be exhausting…important to keeping kids safe/secure. Knowing where they are (on & off line) and who they are with and who are/may be the closest influencers, etc. If You start when your kids are young with open-good-communication and work on it…it is possible as parents to keep a loving/honest communication/guidance relationship on-going with teenage children.
All of us younger and older enJOY friendships and our friends are important to us. We all need association and good association… am reminded of this ancient-wise “PRO” VERB:
So, the illustration the speaker used..friends are like elevators…they can bring you UP! or down…way down into the sub-basement! Personally, i choose friends who have a positive, compassionate, uplifting spiritual impact on me. (Friends that make me better and not bitter.) i don’t closely associate with…whether via TV, on-line, books or in person…with any who pursue stuff say like violence, abuses of free will/power, life takers/wanton risk-ers, harmful stuff outside the “safe” circle of compassion & agape love, etc.
Questions for Consideration:
Are my friends good for me?
Are they elevating me?
