Olives, Artichokes, Avocados

Joan Winifred

Breakfast: toasted crusty sports grain loaf 2 slices… buttered and topped with sliced avocado, Kalamata black olives, and grilled marinated artichokes with black tea spiked with splash of DD’s coffee creamer and doubly sweetened with small spoonful of Manuka Honey. YUMMY in my tummy!:) and YES! i have a sweet tooth…NO! sweet teeth minus no. 17;)

Oh ya, should it go without saying? that when preparing food…of any kind?…come on, this is health/hygiene 101 (not rocket science)…would any of us “knowingly” eat food out of a bowl only washed/cleansed/sterilized on the outside and dirty/filthy/rotten on the inside??…i don’t think so. (May be i am NOT starving enough? not that hungry!) Our cooking utensils, plates, bowls etc..a common sanitation preference/practice that makes sense to most of us…we feel comfortable eating from clean dishes, don’t we??

i don’t think it will be hard for you to forgive my skepticism…and squirmishness…and possible outright refusal to accept food from a dirty dish. (That is IF i truly value my health/longevity.)  At certain tables, Yes, i am a picky eater! Health is multi-level wellness…spiritual, mental, emotional, physical. Guess, i don’t care to pick up any parasites..literally or literally…mind/brain/body…or any parasitic thoughts that interfere with my mind’s compassionate functioning…

(Any thought that could lead me away from compassion! or the TRUE God of Compassion Jehovah.)

It’s super sad…that people are enslaved/engrossed/entrenched the world over…and sick from parasites…mind and otherwise that interfere with healthy functioning. That take away true freedom/true life.

Sometimes i wonder IF “mind parasites” are the most insidious…negative thinking, false beliefs, lies, false religious dogma, fake media, science fiction (i.e. so-called “theory” of evolution), etc, materialism, spiritism,…distorted thinking in its many shapes and forms..that motivate/lead to poor decision making or violence and hurtful, enslaving practices/habits of one sort or another…that endanger, hurt or kill us…sooner or later.

Some parasites make death look good and beautiful…death in disguise.

How do you/i know IF we’ve picked up a mind parasite somewhere…?? Mind parasites take away from quality of life and longevity. We could be too sick to realize how sick we really are, eh?!

(Make sure to eat clean mind food, huh?) Don’t digest dirt?!

Everyday is a fight and a struggle for me to keep my mind safe, healthy and clean…protected. Any parasitic mind worm will be extracted!!!

Verses and etc. helping me think about my thinking: (and how my thinking leads to actions positive/negative, etc.)

“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Stuff read about transforming my mind…

Actually, being transformed involves more than making progress or improving. A product may be labeled or advertised as “improved,” but essentially it is still the same product. There might be just one new ingredient, and the packaging might be more attractive. As to the expression “be transformed,” a note in Vine’s Expository Dictionary explains: “In Rom[ans] 12:2 being outwardly conformed to the things of this age [or system of things] is contrasted with being transformed (or transfigured) inwardly by the renewal of the thoughts through the Holy Spirit’s power.”

“Be transformed by making your mind over,” Paul wrote. The “mind” relates to our thinking faculties. But as used in the Bible, it includes our mental inclination, attitude, and power of reason. Earlier in his letter to the Romans, Paul described people who reflected “a disapproved mental state.”

“Just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, (*or they did not approve of holding God in accurate knowledge) God gave them over to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting. And they were filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed,(*covetousness) and badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice, being whisperers,(*gossipers) 30 backbiters, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, schemers of what is harmful, (*Inventors of injurious things) disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, and merciless.”  (Romans 1:28-31)

The transformation involves what we are inside, so to bring it about, we need something that can penetrate the surface, reaching deep inside us. What can help us in that way? When we learn what Jehovah requires of us in harmony with his purpose as stated in the Bible, our response to what we read reveals what is in our heart and what adjustments we need to make in order to act in accord with the “perfect will of God.”—Rom. 12:2; Heb. 4:12. (The will of the “true” God of “Compassion” that is.)

For the Christians in Rome at that time, about 56 C.E., the “system of things” involved the standards, customs, manners, and styles that characterized the Roman world. Paul’s use of the word “quit” implies that some of them were still being influenced by that system of things. What kind of influences did it exert..[…] “Quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over.” (Ro 12:2) {“It was not the time period itself that set the fashion, pattern, or model for people of that time, but it was the standards, practices, manners, customs, ways, outlook, styles, and other features characterizing that time period.” excerpted Insight on Scriptures Vol. 2 System of Things.}

Today, tourists in Rome usually see the remains of its temples, tombs, monuments, arenas, theaters, and so forth. Some of these date back to the first century. Such vestiges of the past offer insight into the social and religious life in ancient Rome. We can also read in history books about its gladiatorial games, chariot races, and plays and musicals on a wide range of subjects, some of them shameful. Rome was also a prosperous center of commerce, so opportunities for material gains abounded.—Rom. 6:21; 1 Pet. 4:3, 4.

Despite their many temples with their pantheon of gods, the Romans were not known to cultivate a real, personal relationship with the gods they worshipped. To them, religion consisted mainly of rituals—for births, marriages, and funerals—that were part of their social order. You can imagine how all of that posed a challenge for the Christians in Rome. (excerpted article: Have You been Transformed? w13)

Yeah, obviously, the here and now is not ancient Rome or Greece, etc…however, every “system of things” passes away…eventually. (And IF i wish to progress…live beyond this present system of things (and its fading fads)…destined to end eventually!…perhaps, it is wise on my part to be transformed in mind/thinking (in order to make life-preserving choices that give me an actual “future”) and not be molded by any negative influences that could be popular-modern-day customs, habits or trends…from a system that is passing away…like ancient Rome.)

Trying/Keeping my mind/body free from any potential deadly parasites…seems like a healthy:) course of action for me personally.
