Illusion V. Reality

…another type of epiphany watching re-run TV…(usually, as a non-sedentary person, it’s not long before i fall asleep watching most movies (new or recycled) or TV) last night  8/9/17 (while on vaca) happened upon the middle of an old Star Trek episode/movie…dealing with illusion v. reality…(topic “caught” my attention)

“Pike chose illusion, Kirk chose reality”…What do i choose: illusion or reality??

may be, at times, we-fragile-life choose both or may be?…we choose to escape/improve “reality” with illusion (or vacation or work)?? a reality make-up of sorts to beautify our dull/harsh surroundings…etc.

Is to ignore illusion courageously embracing reality?!

When i choose spiritual lenses…i see reality.  When i choose selfish lenses…i see illusion?

Long meditative/prayerful walks on the beach…(working?)…aka collecting shells of various odd shapes, sizes, broken or Not (for art projects)…i happen upon trash left behind…a plastic bottle, cup, popsicle stick here and there…i pick these up as well…so, the next fragile-life behind me can enJOY a clean beach walk/experience…nothing special on my part…from time to time, for whatever reason, we all drop things/or forget things, including me, without realizing, also, just wanting to compassionately leave the beach nice/clean/fresh/pristine as it should be!…beautiful!

What ticked me off yesterday…while walking barefoot…good thing watch were i am going…dog poop!…left behind.  Okay, so may be a wild/unleashed dog..unsupervised by Owner…ran off doing his/her duty…i commend all thoughtful dog owners who take the time and pick-up after and parents who don’t leave dirty diapers on beaches!:)…

who wants to step in poop?? while walking the beach?? not even dog owners wanna barefoot, unexpectedly step in it, right?!

May be ? we can all improve reality a bit…by being less selfish and more thoughtful of how our choices or our thoughtlessness affect Others. For example, while walking the beach…i enJOY the sounds of the waves crashing and birds chirping…personally, just like my feet don’t wanna step in poop…my ears don’t wanna hear…for example, people fighting and swearing/cursing each other out…leaving their poop/mess behind…floating in the wind…in ear shot of me.

Choosing peaceful thoughts, peaceful interactions, and peaceful communications…makes things clean/nice for everyone at the beach or elsewhere, huh?

Respect.

Compassion.

Reality is: we can choose not to be an irritant. Illusion: sand always stays on the beach. Reality: we can choose not to throw sand, and we can choose to rinse/wipe our feet when leaving beach.

Who wants sand in their eyes?? OUCH:(

Anyway, i am rambling now…SORRY (to irritate!) this post (and may be misc. etc.) has taken an unexpected turn (life sometimes does that, huh?)…i am heading in a direction “unintended”… i hope to explore further/get back on track…aka continue topic of reality v. illusion in another (spiritual) direction later on.

PEACE Reader:) hoping You enJOY a long, healthy, happy walk somewhere today in a clean, nature space!:)

2 Favorites & 1 Pet Peeve

My 2 favorite chores…1. laundry…(the entire process: washing, drying, hanging on line, folding, arranging outfits, ironing, wearing fresh, clean.)

2. car cleaning…(the entire process: emptying mini-van of various items left behind by kids/hubby, dusting/washing interior, dust busting/sweeping/vacuuming interior…detailing, exterior soaping/scrubbing, rinsing and drying/polishing by hand including hubcaps and floor mats -lol..oh, and riding fresh, clean.)

The best part of these chores is…accomplishing them with my happy helpers, my kids. My little girls LOVE doing laundry…and my teen son is great about cleaning the car…(he doesn’t drive just yet).

My pet peeve…See i LOVE walking barefoot on grass (and so do my kids), enJOYing the sunshine (say while i clean my car)…and i like to enJOY the (preference) freedom of NOT stepping in…poop. (Is it too much to ask doggie guardians/owners to PLEASE pick up after Your loved one…so, my front lawn doesn’t become a doggie bathroom/poop minefield?) (And Yes, i have freely forgiven:) and put on flip-flops)…a doggie must do his duty, eh? and pet person, huh?)..(p.s. didn’t step in any…”usually” watch (am aware) where i walk…especially when barefoot! 😉

FY: i had doggie’s (as pets, kids, family members) for the first 20 years of my 23 year marriage (before and after 4 human kids) …until a couple cats needed rescuing and/or adopted us…(which i have always loved cats, too…grew up w/kitty-cats)…it was always our practice to pick up after our doggies…(and kids, eh?)…when possible/feasible…so, tried to always be prepared when on a walk, etc.

What do You think Reader (should/would/ought) neighbors be considerate and pick up their pet’s poop?

this is what i’m thinking:

“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste/pure, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering/or thinking about/meditating on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Plus, the fresh air and sunshine is my disinfectant/(healer) as well:  recently read this in Awake! March 2015 excerpt: (my highlights)

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes that natural ventilation, which includes outside air flowing through a building, is important for infection control. Indeed, WHO guidelines published in 2009 encourage use of such natural ventilation as an effective measure in reducing the risk of infection at health-care facilities.

Studies conducted at a United Kingdom Ministry of Defence site provide some answers. Scientists there were trying to establish how long the air would remain dangerous if a biological weapon armed with harmful bacteria were exploded over London. To determine the viability of airborne pathogens, the researchers anchored E. coli microorganisms to threads of spider silk and exposed them to the open air. The experiment was performed at night, since it was known that sunlight kills these bacteria. What were the results?

Some two hours later, nearly all the bacteria were dead. Yet, when the bacteria were kept in a closed box in the same location and at the same temperature and humidity, most of them were still alive past the two-hour mark. Why? Evidently, something about being in the open air kills germs. This so-called open-air factor has not been clearly identified. However, researchers point to a compound that occurs naturally in open air and that “acts as a natural disinfectant against pathogens or germs that lurk in the atmosphere.”

Sunlight also has natural disinfecting properties. The Journal of Hospital Infection explains that “the majority of microbes that cause airborne infections cannot tolerate sunlight.

My beloved/(country) grandma, resting in PEACE, Ella Mae Love-Wil—-, liked/sang this song & it (always) reminds me of Her (and Other Loved Ones! and my (long-gone) city youth and past New Hampshire Mountain family (camping) vacations)!

FIRST Conscientious Objector Executed by Nazis: Who Was He?

Ever wonder who was the 1st conscientious objector executed by the Nazis??

On September 16, 2014, the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation will host a special event to remember the 75th anniversary of the execution of August Dickmann in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He was the first conscientious objector publicly executed by the Nazis in World War II.

Check out this video about it:

http://www.jw.org/en/news/releases/by-region/germany/stand-firm-video-clip/

In October 1937, Mr. Dickmann was imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp because of his beliefs as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Three days after the outbreak of World War II in 1939, the Gestapo summoned Mr. Dickmann and asked him to sign a military identification card, which would have enlisted him in the German army. When Mr. Dickmann refused, he was placed in solitary confinement and the camp commander sought permission from the head of the SS to execute Mr. Dickmann in the presence of all other camp inmates. On September 15, 1939, hundreds of Jehovah’s Witnesses, including Mr. Dickmann’s fleshly brother Heinrich, were forced to watch the execution. Two days later, The New York Times reported from Germany: “August Dickmann, 29 years old, . . . has been shot here by a firing squad.” The newspaper further noted that he was sentenced for refusing military service “because of religious scruples.”

*It is the fundamental human right of all breathing-fragile-life to have scruples…and to LIVE…by them!

How many lives are saved…by conscientious objectors who respect life and who refuse to take lives on any day (no matter what date/year they live in/on (e.g., September 15th, 1939 or September 11th, 2001?)
